I mean, it's definitely not something that is for everybody. So long as you don't talk down to those who enjoyed it and speak about the reasons you don't like it instead of insulting it or Goose I don't see why anyone would be upset at you. I liked it, but others won't, it definitely is divisive
As someone who really liked the ending, but did feel that somethings could have been better, I’d say just be honest, say what you wanted or were hoping to see, and how the episode subverted that, and how it made you feel. Bring up anything you did like, and if you have ideas on how
you think it could have been better, just say so.
Just…don’t call the people who liked it “morons” or whatever and say what YOU took away from the experience.
Perhaps you could talk about how you think it stacks up against the rest of the show?
There’s a lot of ways you can go about it, my suggestion is to try and be contrastive in your criticisms and honest on how it made you feel, no one can fault you for that imo-
Hope you get some good rest Phil 💚👋🏻💕✨💕✨💕✨💕✨
Coming from someone who did like the ending, I guess I'd suggest just making sure that you give lots of clarification, let it be known that it's not your intention to come off as a jerk when simply speaking your personal thoughts and opinions. Sorry if this might not be helpful advice I'm giving.
I too did not like it, you're not alone. Even while watching at the theater, there were elements that I went "Wait, why did they write it like this? Is that really all there is to XYZ?"
As for advice: keep your criticisms solely on the media itself and bring up the creators as little as possible. Calling out individual people by name inherently sounds more hostile than only addressing the media (Ex: "This scene is badly written" vs "Gooseworx wrote this scene badly")
Pointing out why you didn't like? Like a list of things you didn't like & maybe the whys
Or just be yourself, it's an opinion.
Nobody should be ashamed or afraid to express themselves because of some socipathic people out here who would throw themselves at a wall if ya didn't like what they liked
As long as you clarify that it’s your opinion, it should be fine. When it comes to reviews from larger public figures people tend to interpret their words as “fact” as opposed to a subjective opinion.
Explaining why you didn’t like certain aspects also help give reason for your opinions, rather than making a blunt statement about it and leaving others to speculate why.
Well, like most good criticism, mention the good, the bad, what could have been better, and good wishes to the creator and crew. I'm in the same boat of not really liking the episode, but there are good things in it I like, some pieces of foreshadowing and writing that are good.
Don't hold back on your criticism but pay attention to word choice if you care about being nice. Try to formulate the thing you say carefully before saying it. No shame in taking a pause between sentences. Regardless do not engage the crybullies because it only ends poorly. I don't think this show-
needs to be coddled, these are adults working on a pretty big production who have made a shit ton of cash from it. They can handle a guy online being critical. Be honest but don't rile people up on purpose. The pricks that do horrible shit over this show will at least fuck off partially that way.
I mean I can completely understand why the ending didn’t land for you and that’s okay i am really interested now to hear your thoughts though after watching it myself
Not much way to do it without it coming off as you trying to utilise your larger platform to invalidate the feelings of others.
Through id say, what you are doing here is pretty much fine. You dont have to like the stuff others do. But making a big deal out of it is always going to piss people off.
Really, the big question here, is whether the finale is actually failing you, or you just are disconnected from the themes and decisions it chose?
The thing about criticism, is that its not really productive, when what you are criticizing is what the media wants to be, rather than its execution.
and honestly, seeing from how well the finale resonated with people, i dont think you`ll be able to make a case against it beyond "the shows made some decisions i dont agree with" which is just going to come off as self-centered.
Sometime, media is just goign to be divisive, doest make it a failure
hmm, i suppose there can be purpose in criticising a media for failing to delve into a specific topic, through i think thats something that needs to be tackled with a lot more nuance and falls into the problem of holding creators responsible of making everyone happy.
But thats what fanfics are for
Hard to give criticism to media that's made with and is loved without sounding like an asshole. So you just gotta be like this is my issues without insulting the creator personally. If people call you an asshole post that there's nothing you can do
The fandom is going to be overly critical to anything bad people have to say about the finale no matter what, I personally liked it a lot but I can certainly see why others didn't like it.
I say if you're going into hot water no matter what, then don't hold anything back.
Leaving aside the, uh, 4 comments long thread I left elsewhere in this same section, I am curious to know what you expected to see in the ending and how you would change what we got
It's hard, considering the fandom. Maybe saying "I didn't like it" is the best you can do, because "it sucked" or "it was awful" is going to get you a lot of hate
It's probably better if you can say WHY you didn't like it, but again, be careful with your wording
Walking on eggshells like this sucks
Even like this, a lot of people will take issue with your opinion (even tho you ARE allowed to dislike something) but so long as say it in a calm way, others should be more open to accept it and read into it
(SPOILERS FOR THE FINALE!)
IMO, the finale felt like a mashup of different stories that independently work very well, but not all of them get the time they deserve or fit that well with each other, resulting in an episode that lacks the wackiness, comedy, and integrity of the rest of the series
(SPOILERS FOR THE FINALE!)
-The characters realizing they are copies: extremely rushed
-Pomni in JAX's mind: Very good, but a bit too long
-Caine reviving and realizing his errors: barely explained and extremely rushed
-Caine apologizing and the ending: Very good
-Credits: the ate Zack Hadel!
Yeahhh I knew the moment it ended in my theater that you probably wouldn't 😂 Seriously though, this on it's own is probably the best you can do. At least to an audience as big as yours. Otherwise you can air your grievances with friends and most likely stay out of trouble that way. 🤷
I liked the ending, but I can see why some wouldn't. I've learned not to judge others for not liking things I enjoy, even if they can't explain why clearly. You just want to be honest.
But sadly, this is the internet, so having any other opinion is dangerous. So I don't know.
Prehaps if you're still making that stream talking about the final, you could prehaps mention somewhere in the title that you didn't like it to give people a heads up?
Besides that sadly I don't have anything else to give, because this is the internet and some people will be offended no matter what you do (especially with TADC fandom)
Do a compliment sandwhich, start with things you did like, then for the middle talk ab what you didnt like, and then talk a bit about some of the issues a bit more.
Sincerely as someone who liked the premise but didnt like the execution
Normally i would go with just saying you didn't like it but knowing the internet (and especially the current fans of TADC)
Say what you liked and what you didn't like to minimize the chance of looking like an asshole.
