Want to know a neat trick to get game companies to stop using GenAI to make games? Don't buy the games they make with it. It's that simple. Are you gonna miss out? Yes, but so what? Do you know how many OTHER games you could be playing? Your Steam library probably does! ;)

Nope. Don't even pirate a GenAI game. Show ZERO interest so they have no justifications whatsoever to keep using it! :B Besides, have you PLAYED a GenAI game? I've played ONE because I wanted to write an informed rejection response to a company who wanted me to promote them... it was... "stale" :P

Good idea, buuut.... that's about the same as hate watching. Some will take metrics from that and say there's interest... like, no joke, they do that with movies and shows, too. x-x Really though, save the time and play a human game. :P There's sooooo freakin' many indies to support.

Here's the thing about that: Devs who use GenAI and don't disclose it WILL slip up sooner or later and it will become blatantly obvious that they have been using it. At that point, BECAUSE they did not disclose it, EVERYTHING they have ever made and will ever make now becomes suspect.-

Under those conditions, you not only don't buy ANY of their games going forwards, old or new, but you assume by default that their work has GenAI content. Innocent until proven guilty is generally the best approach, especially with GenAI given that people are called out by mistake too often. :/

(By which I mean, called out for using GenAI when someone did NOT actually use it, at which point it becomes a guilty until proven innocent thing which can be heartbreaking and demotivating for devs who put so much damn work into what they make.)
