Started a very productive playtest of my romance story game, Road to Romance last night. We got half way through and hope to pick it up after Metatopia.

There was a sports romance with @czamboni.bsky.social playing a tennis coach who lost her big chance because of injury, and is falling in love with the up and coming young star she is coaching.

An adventure romance with @backwardsttrpg.bsky.social playing Indira Jones, an entomologist falling in love with the rich sponsor of her Colombian expedition

A contemporary gothic romance with @sociable-turtle.bsky.social playing a timid researcher logging her grandmothers belongings while a clever lawyer working for other side of the family is taking a shine to her

The ‘trouble’ in my story is playing the mother of my love interest who _definitely_ doesn’t approve of this wizard from the high and mighty wizards tower, and is determined to keep us apart.

“I blighted the land so I could romance the community leader” definitely radiating “am I the baddy?” vibes! Interested to read the consent section for this game - like a lot of X card stuff this is often unwritte or informal but am presumably you needed to be explicit.

It’s very upfront about the need to continually check consent, in the ‘are you OK with this, are you OK with this direction?’ sense, as well as the normal lines and veils etc. Don’t rely upon your playing partners to speak up, proactively check in.
