The secure certificate used by older versions of Playdate OS is about to expire. To connect to our servers after that, update your Playdate OS today: Settings → System → Software Update You'll want to be on version 3.0.5 or higher. Can't update today? Contact our support and we'll help.

To clarify, if Playdate consoles are on 3.0.5 or later are they okay because they have the new certificate? When did that version release?

It tells me, “Update check failed,” every time I try to update. Is it already too late to update?

Curious: what happens to the secondhand market if someone has their console on a drawer and isn’t aware of this? Will those consoles be bricked after this date?

I’m on the old one and my Playdate is in another state! Is the cutoff midnight Pacific? I might scrape home in time but if I don’t what should I do?

It won't be able to connect to our servers—but no worries, you'll still be able to update manually. It's a little trickier, but no data will be lost. Here's a guide: help.play.date/hardware/pla...
