“how would i build a toaster from scratch, assume i have zero materials just my hands and i live in a forest.” that’s my prompt to test reasoning models. it’s famously impossible to build a toaster from scratch. there’s a book about it. our tech trees are too complex to create the components solo.

o1 would try to think it through, land on it being impossible, and tell me about the book. decent answer. deepseek consistently said to use mud and sticks instead. awful. the new o3-mini-high model just explained the entire tech progression you’d have to follow in order to achieve it. i’m stunned.

You are up to date.
