unironically agree with this. There's a lot of changes I love about Wilds but a lot are genuinely just removing interactions that made the combat interesting. Reduction of friendly fire is this game's biggest blunder that will only be appreciated by people who didn't get the game in the first place.

Spent the entire review thinking about this quote Having mechanics that help make the hunt easier for those who need the help does not mean you HAVE to use them if you don't need the help

Having to avoid game mechanics and systems in order to make the game more challenging is a game flaw. Those mechanics should be engaged to surpass challenges, not avoided to create them. Unless wilds has something like ff16 newbie ring that i don't know about.

From what i gather, sort of Seikret has a autopilot that is on by default, but it was the first thing i turned off on beta Wound system has a special attack to destroy them that is op, but you still engage with wound mechanics without using it However palicos are op and seikret can save you for free

This implies that there hasn’t been a jump in QOL between this and World and World from 4. The gaps in convenience are huge between these Feel free not to play, I just wanted to give some due credit

I tried various versions on Wii, 3DS, PS4 and Series X None of them have clicked for me, I dont mind others loving it, just scoffing at the hyperbole of the article/ the fanbase constantly proselytizing the latest entry being perfect for newcomers or if you disliked it before

You didn’t need to clarify. I just didn’t want someone on the fence about Wilds to see that and get the wrong idea without the the whole picture. Wilds is the first time the feel of fighting the monsters and the movement associated didn’t feel “clunky” for me. I actually agree World or prior

I think it's both okay to enjoy the streamlined hunt process and to critique the loss of the overall theme and appeal to the hardcore scavenging and hunting crowd that originally were the core audience of MH. Especially when it supports vague colonial sub themes.

Isn't the main story basically low rank? Of course it'll be easy for veterans. I'm only expecting the post game, late high rank, tempered hunts to actually have some challenge and even then I'll probably do those with other players, which makes them much easier as well
