I’m a pilot. The people flying the aircraft fighting these fires are incredibly skilled. Those planes are not the most maneuverable and, given the terrain, winds, and smoky conditions, their airmanship is beyond remarkable

I can't imagine how hard this must be: 1. Wind 2. Updrafts from the heat 3. Smoke 4. Aircraft jumps up when you release all that weight These guys and gals are legends, and they usually nail their targets too. Heroes and warriors.

Retardant. Dropped in front of the fire on unburned areas. Fire will still burn through an area with retardant, but more slowly and at lower intensity. Lets firefighters work in closer proximity to the fire It last longer than water. Retardant is still effective after the water has evaporated off.

This, in my opinion, is the zenith of masculine energy. Taking bold, courageous action to protect and serve. The very best of humanity. We need more of these heroes raising us up, bringing their best. My heart swells with emotion watching these brave people. Reminds me of 911 responders.

The red color of the fire retardant is caused by the chemical component iron oxide, commonly known as rust. The retardant is colored with the component so it is easily seen from the air and by firefighters and other authorities battling the blaze on the ground.
