Doctors and hospitals that treat people in immigration detention have gone about a year without being paid. Now ICE plans to keep the company hired to fix that problem for up to four more years, without taking bids from anyone else.

A new ICE document says Acentra Health could hold the contract through October 2030. ICE blacked out every dollar figure. The company had already been paid $44.6 million as of June, according to @washingtonsun.com , while providers had received nothing.

ICE’s own document warns that unpaid bills could lead providers to turn detainees away, and that delays in care could lead to hospitalization or death. It also says Acentra is already doing the work. As of late September, Acentra’s website said it had not started processing claims.

Ugh. Over the summer, Acentra said they weren't hired to actually process claims. (Not what the justification for last year's no-bid contract said.) And IHSC provider training slides show the system they "built out" is eCAMS HCE, the same system the VA already paid Acentra $57M to make.
