Not only is this toolkit from @interruptcrim.bsky.social valuable purely for the content they've curated, I'm also just a huge fan of the design. Accessible, visually engaging, easy to navigate. Good stuff.

The Office of Management and Budget released its first fiscal 2027 apportionment of ICE’s OBBBA operations money on Oct. 20. Of about $43.5 billion in the account, OMB cleared about $7 billion for this year and held $36.6 billion for fiscal 2028. Let's take a peek.

You don’t have to care how this guy sleeps at night to learn from this piece. His 287(g) role pays him in money and power. But he's clearly preoccupied with how others see him, and the social cost is high. Even morally bankrupt people respond to incentives, some of which we can change.

ICYMI, a stunning story. Ingram, Texas, was just rebuilding from a devastating flood when its tiny police department enrolled in ICE’s deportation program. Within a year, cops would hand over the equivalent of 10% of the town. @francescadnunz.bsky.social @mckenziefunk.com

The bottom line is that ICE is using taxpayer dollars to turn local law enforcement into its bounty hunters, and sheriffs are thrilled to play along. But remember that local collaboration is voluntary and, as Election Day nears, sheriffs are elected officials!

Early this year, I visited Ingram, a TX town of ~1,900, to check out a tip. The area was starting to recover from its worst flood in a century. But as Latino workers drove to jobsites to help rebuild, the tipster said, a cop in a black Dodge Charger kept stopping them ... 🧵

A must-read. We all need to talk more about 287(g), including people in places that don't participate. What's happening in my state is what's freeing up more ICE agents to invade yours.

I'm not exaggerating when I say this is the playbook. Public records requests, local media investigations, sustained push back at public meetings, dig into deeper issues of transparency/accountability with local PD. It's more or less all there in Gordonsville.

Replace "Boeing 737s" with "empty warehouses" and you've got the same play that DHS under Noem pulled. And a source on background told us in February the sales were meant to help well-connected Trump affiliates offload industrial properties that were liabilities on their books.

Tantalizing new clue here from @markalfred.bsky.social on the failed “deportation fleet.” I first reported in February that DHS contractor (a former Noem donor) overpaid for the planes, starting last December. gillianbrockell.com/noems-luxury...

Good to see this, as the $10k William Walters gave to a Noem-linked super PAC is likely a tiny fraction of the corruption here. Remember this tidbit NBC News reported back in March? Salus called it defamatory and threatened to sue but hasn't done so. www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news...
