[later today] The Death of the Link: How AI is Quietly Rewriting the Rules of Reality We have entered the age of predatory convenience. For decades, the internet functioned as a sprawling, chaotic, yet fundamentally democratic library. ▐ Tier 4 / 5 where things becomes truly disturbing

Modern AI assistants don’t point us toward the world; they pretend to be the world. The mechanism is parasitic: as AI substitutes for human research effort, it destroys the incentive for humans to contribute new, original knowledge to the shared pool.

It’s plagiaristic and destroys critical thought. It must be regulated. In the hands of the powerful it becomes a weapon of mass destruction.

Well stated. It indeed kills critical thinking, legitimizes plagiarism & Left unchecked (as you stated) a WMD (deception, deflection, destruction). Whether they will regulate is the question, but their incentive is profit as long as that is the case, I doubt they will BUT

If we continue down this path of "zero-friction" existence, we risk more than just misinformation; we risk the atrophy of the human intellect itself. We risk our agency. To them we are just another resource to exploit.
