Omg love this quote and can't help think the same about how wild it is that a few companies now hold the industry hostage at whatever rates they want (And how much this potentially screws over folks/companies unable to afford it)

yep. i think about people starting out — when we were coming up you needed a cheap laptop, internet, and some determination. now you need a credit card. one of the last remaining avenues of social mobility (and a way for us nerds to find our people) replaced by yet another accelerator of inequality

Inherited vibe project -- page took 5 minutes to load. Found about 30 DB tables joined on things like "brand name" and "report title". New client = new folder of the same files with the client name changed because it was hard-coded. 🤷
