Leaflet implemented their own comment system so there could be “local” comments. No technical reason other than product vision likely. Mentions / mention threads are their own thing, and will soon go beyond just bsky posts. See @awarm.space work on page.parts

Yep! Wanted comments distinct from / not reliant on bluesky, but agree we need a better experience to bring comments & mentions / bsky convo together. Maybe a way to show combined, or option to also share comments to bluesky could be cool (easy technically, mostly ux q's)…anyway on our radar!
