“most people don’t communicate well enough for polyamory” most people don’t communicate well enough for monogamy either , but they still date

Most people date impulsively and don’t have clear ideas of what they want, which thus leads to misinterpretation and miscommunication, and choppy waters

After a bad poly experience, my therapist told me something insightful. People incorrectly assume poly relationships are more "mature" than monogamy but it's still all the same dynamics as mono, just more people involved.

Personally I think a lot of people start dating before they're ready and before they've developed sufficient communication skills. I definitely did. I could barely have healthy friendships let alone a relationship or multiple (which I did have during my first relationship, positive and negative)

I think separating monogamy and polyamory in that way tho is a little ridiculous if we want to say like "most people don't communicate well enough for polyamory" (talking about he sentenced referenced in this post). Like that's just a ridiculous idea bc a large majority of people don't communicate

Yeah its like, I think a lot of relations on either side of this fall through because what is needed and wanted just isn't well communicated enough. In ideal circumstances, this can be worked through. But in a lot of other circumstances? uhhh

Like I'd be lying if the appeal of poly for us wasnt just "It's easier to communicate with others and fulfill their needs when it isn't just us having to do that" because we're disabled as hell. but I do think communication issues are a universal relationship issue.

the potential fallout is much bigger with poly tho. with great power, etc.
