CGI even regressed IMHO. Steven Spielberg's "Disclosure Day" (terrible movie, no recommendation) contains some CGI scenes with animals, relevant for the story and the CGI is so, so, so bad. From the the same director who gave us Jurassic Park.

Also, I never made it past the boat battle in Gladiator 2. Instead I watched Gladiator 1 again, to see if it is still watchable, and oh my, compared to the sequel... Maybe not Oscar worthy (though it got at least one), but really good entertainment and a solid movie that stood the test of time.

Life of Pi? More recently Barbie :) Most movies have way more CGI these days, but quite invisible. There’s a good essay about this: youtu.be/bL6hp8BKB24
