If Trump sides with Putin, I don't think that Europe has a choice other than to openly enter the conflict. Do we? If Ukraine falls, there's no way Putin stops there.

There are other options. Europe should drop NATO, expel American military assets from Europe and negotiate with sovereignty a new security framework for the continent. There are plenty of countries in the Global South that could help if Europe end this binary Cold War mentality.
