JK Rowling’s transphobia has ruined Harry Potter. That is a shame, there was a real magic in the fantasy of it. As a kid, I always loved imagining going to private coed boarding school. Inheriting a big pile of money. Drinking non alcoholic beer. Owning a little slave guy

Is the Tech we are building going to support Peace Efforts or not? Really good questions are being asked...

When the AI bubble pops, we can’t repeat past corporate bail outs. We need to be ready with policies that protect ordinary people and hold tech execs accountable. We also need to talk about nationalizing AI companies — or maybe even abolishing them altogether… @astra.bsky.social @theguardian.com

Calling all fellow web devs, design engineers, and web components nerds! Would you be interested in a #WebComponents conference??? Let us know! #html #css #javascript #WebDev #DesignSystems

What if there was a Web Components conference?? @stuffbreaker.bsky.social and I are teaming up to get a little more serious about the idea of getting one together. We want to gather data on if there is interest in the community forms.gle/ZGqtYGj7V6q8... Please fill out and share to anyone!

What frustrates me about the non-ai coding advocacy is that it tends to be narrow minded to: only artisanal, expert made, good quality code is acceptable. They fail to understand that good software is expensive and therefore completely out of reach for certain communities and countries.

I'm not saying that coding with LLMs are going to fix this, but you can clearly see why vibe-coded applications are appealing. Screaming that "the code is shit" is not going to change the fact that those people need a digital solution and paying us thousands of dollars is not an option.

Vibe-coded software is perfect for TONS of scenarios. Should we vibe code the systems of an airplane? Hell no! Should we vibe code the software of medical devices? Of course no! Should we vibecode a small website for our local group/association? Why not? It's perfect for that.

What frustrates me about the non-ai coding advocacy is that it tends to be narrow minded to: only artisanal, expert made, good quality code is acceptable. They fail to understand that good software is expensive and therefore completely out of reach for certain communities and countries.

There's a whole world of use cases where people in need of tech cannot afford thousands of dollars on it. For most of those use cases average code is more than enough. It doesn't need to scale, it doesn't need to shine, it doesn't need to be great it just need to put some words on an webpage.

Let's be honest, a small city in some countries cannot pay dollarized salaries of a globalized digital economy. We all enjoy our good salaries, but our industry has excluded A LOT of people in need of digital solutions.

If anything good can come up from LLMs in coding is the ditch of frameworks if favor of stacks closer to the platform itself. On the web landscape I see no reason to keep investing in bloated frameworks when we can be using HTML, WebComponents, modern CSS, etc. shopify.engineering/back-to-native

kind of crazy how google's ai overview uses ai-generated articles based on my blogpost as sources, instead of, yknow, just using my original blogpost

"Digital transformation" was the political buzzword through which strategic public functions were transferred to closed, private technological infrastructures in one or two jurisdictions. A de facto privatisation and abdication of sovereignty. With AI, it will get worse than that.

I got approached by a company with a job position that says: "If you aren't already achieving 20 to 50x productivity gains compared to a year ago, this role will be a difficult fit." I know they meant well, but I am perplex to the fact that they write statements like that. What do they expect?

“The time for dialogue with these people is long gone.” @robin.berjon.com’s opening talk is a call to action to build collective power in opposition to extractive big tech. #pubconf2026

We had/have the same frustration while trying to explain that LLM outputs are also editorial. That LLMs are trained and programmed to answer in a specific way. Access to information is being monopolized, we are living in dangerous times.

Robin Berjon@robin.berjon.com

This one point is proving remarkably challenging to get across: ALGORITHMIC FEEDS ARE EDITORIAL You wouldn't expect to do well pitching your ideas to a newspaper or TV that hates you. Why expect anything better from X or Insta, which are openly authoritarian media?
