If you're feeling past it, remember that Tom Jones had the biggest album of his career aged 59, Reload, and it wasn't some nostalgia fest, he systematically worked with every contemporary artist and producer for each track and sold four million copies.

And this week at the age of 78 Tony Iommi has released an absolutely banging new metal album called From The Dark with Jorn Lande on vocals, and 35yo Becky Baldwin on bass.

I think it's the other way round, it's unusual when a film/song/book/album whatever lasts outside its era. Most stuff does not. Not a reflection on quality, whatever that means, just the reasons something landed, well, the context changes, and we no longer live in that context.

Because it wasn't very good and, sorry Rob, was a novelty record with a past-it singer collaborating with current stars. No US release is telling.

Fun LP too, picked it up for £1 in a charity shop yesterday. The sound of a 90s indie club night filtered through the ludicrous voice of Jones. Should that worked on paper? I don't know but it DOES work, and if you're not entertained by the bombast & variety show of who now? What? Then you are dead.
