If you enjoyed this, I put the same humour and retro computing obsessions into my new book "81 Jokes For The ZX81". Do pre-order it, out early December in time for Christmas. An ideal gift for you or your ZX81 loving partner. I've put so much love into this. Order now: spelk.press/gb/products/...

Bet he's not a leftie. Not because lefties can't be abusers, of course they can, but the Daily Mail would stick it massive letters if he was Labour or Green etc. And yeah, he's a Tory councillor, not that you'd know without clicking and scrolling.

Fesshole has got a bad review on Facebook because it pissed off a Reform voter. If you want to help me out, and annoy a Nigel Farage fan looking to cause me trouble, a positive review from you would help even the numbers a bit. www.facebook.com/fesshole

Thank you for cooperating on this - you really changed the numbers around. This is victory for you, me, and for Fesshole contributors to continue to post Reform mockery.

That does also show the amount of Chris's that surround me for some reason. Two there, and a third hidden one coz Brigette is married to a Chris. And an Ian. Who isn't called Chris but is the keyboard player in Jesus Jones whose first EP was called Food CHRIStmas. I'm a Chris magnet. Dunno why.

(I'm asking for a quote here as I thought I'd have to self-publish as its so niche - but the printers is also a publisher and they liked the look of it and decided to publish it themselves without costing me a penny)

I hate doing video content but I thought I could share this as I didn't make it as "content" it's genuinely just this low-key thing I filmed to show another person, therefore I find it less embarrassing. Maybe that's how you SHOULD do these things for real? I dunno.

If you're feeling past it, remember that Tom Jones had the biggest album of his career aged 59, Reload, and it wasn't some nostalgia fest, he systematically worked with every contemporary artist and producer for each track and sold four million copies.

Fun LP too, picked it up for £1 in a charity shop yesterday. The sound of a 90s indie club night filtered through the ludicrous voice of Jones. Should that worked on paper? I don't know but it DOES work, and if you're not entertained by the bombast & variety show of who now? What? Then you are dead.

No YOU lost your mind spending six months hand drawing 81 Jokes For The ZX81 because the title popped into your head one day and you thought the title so absurdly irresistible as a personal challenge that you pivoted your entire life to making a niche as fuck book. spelk.press/gb/products/...

Looking forward to reading this. I agree that the questions we ask can be quite revealing. I did this one based on Google queries in 2020 which reveals much about how the UK reacted in a year dominated by Covid (see alt text; questions best read from top to bottom in date order through the year).

Woke up with a completely useless pun in my head and I'm going to have to go onto the big computer to load Photoshop to tell you about it. Hold on.

Forgot to newsletter this. Also I'm hearing rumours certain b3tans might be here tomorrow at 6pm. The original Flash* Mob ( * .swf)

Modems are now faster. 14.4 was painful. Your 56k modem is pretty sweet.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

Cloning Ed’s work is deeply uncool. Consider yourself officially off the list of cool people.

Just saw someone with a microphone in their profile pic. For some reason it's something that absolutely makes me irritated. They they're amplifying their voice here. Yeah yeah whatever, you get to go on stage occasionally. Well done. Anyway. What minor profile crimes annoy you?

Idly wondered how many Prime Minsiters Fesshole has been under and the first day I asked for confessions was early July 2019, which means it's a Theresa May baby with 5 other PMs rising.

It's probably bad Getty being fucked by AI but at the same time, they really didn't create lot of good will online through the years so there's a little bit of, oh well, sucks to be you.

Speaking of celebs and that cafe - I remember seeing Ian Lee in there, with his kids, and this isn't stalking mentioning it now as it probably was about 18 years ago. He's probably finished his cup of tea and a bun.

This has potential to be one of those things that divides peopple. Journos going, look our job is to get up to speed quickly, and we do that, and devs going what the hell, you opine on "cyber" for a living and PHP is new to you? I'm going a third way and imagining he's like a desk tidy but for Joes.

This post is unavailable.

Newsagents actually did a "Is Trump Secretly Gay?" episode last night, and yeah, I'm sure there are bits of the internet putting these theories together, but also, under every famous person there's someone measuring their nose and cheekbones and claiming they are trans. The shark has been jumped.

Obviously the correct way to understand whatever Trump is blithering about now is by imagining an averagely talented comedian who is winging it with a mic and a live crowd and hasn't really prepped a set.

In terms of timewaster emails I got one yesterday saying they wanted to buy Fesshole and I was fine, make an offer then and they were no, YOU say the price and I was ok, MILLIONS. And then they were asking me to justify it and I was, well, you're the fucker trying to buy it, I'm not trying to sell.

The main reason, though, it's worth that figure is because if I did sell it, I absolutely guarantee whoever bought it would make a dog's dinner of it, but most people wouldn't realise it wasn't me any more, and it would be ME on a daily basis getting my reputation trashed by crypto schemes etc.

I am fed up with people misusing the term podcast and it now meaning a cheaply made TV show with dickheads mouthing off with small microphones. It used to be a proper term where Hal closed the pod doors and cast Dr. Frank Poole into the cold vacuum of space.

WE HAVE THE MOOSE ENDORSEMENT! An amazing thing about doing this project is it's outside my comfort zone, I'm not a visual artist/illustrator and it's been absolutely wonderful hearing nice words from people who demonstrably are good at this stuff.

An amazing piece of work, Rob. I love the pure dedication to the idea and as someone outside the in-joke there’s genuine joy in ‘decoding’ each one. There were a handful that were just too specific, but even that’s enjoyable. Illustrations are ace, no doubt a challenge within the constraints.

In light of the PHP breach, I am deleting the entire Internet. Apologies if you found it useful – the whole thing has been a figment for my imagination which you’ve been using without my permission and I think it’s time to use my brain space for something more fun like sausage recipes.

Quite excited by this - it's had rave reviews from people whose opinions I notice and his Raoul Moat was excellent. Obviously you should buy it along with my ZX81 book which is also "Profound, desperate and humane, its like nothing else you’ll read all year " according to me.

‘Felled: The Killing at Sycamore Gap’ by Andrew Hankinson is out tomorrow. Profound, desperate and humane, its like nothing else you’ll read all year “On a par with the true crime godhead Gordon Burn. Sharp and insightful” The Times amzn.eu/d/08Hwogs0

The project backed by Sister Group which is Liz Murdoch and chums. Doesn't mean it'll succeed or fail of course, but it does mean it's not operating by any of the rules you or I would be operating by should we launch something: capital, connections etc. So, yep, wouldn't write it off just yet.

Cold take: Easy (and fun) to mock the Amol Rajan thing but initially not astounding YT numbers aside I wouldn't necessarily bet on it not working out for him. Also loads of Patreon type things have a "fuck it maybe some insane rich people will back me" tier because why not?
