Silver Pines is on the verge of greatness, but it stumbles far too often. The first thing it did upon starting a new game was crash. A few minutes later, the cursor on the inventory screen got stuck on the camera, preventing me from using any items.

I'm constantly taking cheap hits, because the controls are inexcusably clunky, even for the genre. A shitty dodge is fine, but let me cancel the turn animation into wielding a gun. This man 180s at a glacier's pace. Let me crouch while holding the box cutter, ffs.

The game forces too much combat on you. Picking up a progression item is usually followed by a combat encounter with multiple enemies. It has become predictable. Every time the game asks if I'm sure I want to pick up an item, I let out a groan. It thinks it's so fucking clever.
