I was not aware that MagicCon general admission could just sell out... In hindsight, I should know better than to try to plan for something a few weeks from the event, but still.
Maybe next year.
"Grand Designs" might be my favorite Rush song and it's not even close.
Neil didn't know it at the time, but he wrote an absolute banger of an anti-AI song.
It’s been a pretty good week. I got to rest and heal and I beat a few dungeons in Shiren the Wanderer. I also just posted an update to our gofundme. Please check it out and let people know they should donate so we don’t end up on the streets in 3 weeks thanks!!

The first genuinely honest ad for generative AI I've ever seen, from Microsoft / CoPilot
A mediocre white guy sees his non-white colleague getting praised for good work, he asks AI to *literally copy it*, and then he gets all the praise instead:

One of my most vivid gaming memories was casting Fireball indoors in Baldur's Gate II and realizing that there are consequences for my stupid decisions.
RIP BioWare.
Some positives, because I've been a bit harsh, so far:
- Detective noir vibes for daaaaays
- Susie!!
- Genuinely good voice acting, interesting characters
- Fantastic soundtrack
- Gorgeous art
- Well thought-out world, dense with exploration
- You can pet a horse!! Also, a cat!
Silver Pines gets an 8/10 from me.
The 2 docked points are because of the combat. Boy howdy, does the combat suck ass.
I'd recommend playing it on Tense difficulty. Having what is ostensibly the "hard" difficulty be the "intended" first experience in a game like this is awful.
The story, while interesting, is trying to mash-up too many of its influences.
It's obviously influenced by Silent Hill and Twin Peaks, but it's also trying to be Memento, which... is obvious from the very first scene in the game...

Silver Pines is on the verge of greatness, but it stumbles far too often.
The first thing it did upon starting a new game was crash.
A few minutes later, the cursor on the inventory screen got stuck on the camera, preventing me from using any items.
I'm constantly taking cheap hits, because the controls are inexcusably clunky, even for the genre.
A shitty dodge is fine, but let me cancel the turn animation into wielding a gun. This man 180s at a glacier's pace. Let me crouch while holding the box cutter, ffs.
The game forces too much combat on you.
Picking up a progression item is usually followed by a combat encounter with multiple enemies. It has become predictable.
Every time the game asks if I'm sure I want to pick up an item, I let out a groan. It thinks it's so fucking clever.
Castlevania: Belmont's Curse asks the question "What if the camera were zoomed so far out that basic enemies couldn't telegraph their attacks in any meaningful way?"
I want to love this game, but it just feels bad to play. It doesn't help that I'm hot off the heels of an AoS playthrough.
Konami president Hayakawa believes AI “won’t bring a significant change” to the game market. “Humans” and “creators” are crucial for developing innovative…
Every movie, song, and book that you love was made without the technology that people who don’t make art are now insisting is necessary for making art.
I am happy for you C. Viper Outfit #4 enjoyers, but Capcom needs to fucking cool it, or swing so hard in the other direction we get Guile in a banana hammock.
Like, what are we even doing here? At least make it equal opportunity gooning, ffs.
We still haven’t found a place. We gotta move again today. Having to relocate frequently is one of the hardest parts of this. So we still asking for help. Thanks!!
I made a gofundme because being homeless is going to kill me. Please spread the word that two of our great living artists are begging for money so they can finally get their lives back.

Trump tries to start a race war: "The once Great State of Minnesota is being taken over by Somali Immigrants ... The Somalians should not be allowed to get away with what they are doing. They view you as weak and stupid people. Fight back Minnesota, fight back!"
It's wild that a game whose good endings rely on a low kill count will often put you in a situation in which you have no choice but to kill things.
Seriously, how the fuck do you even clear Chapter 5 without killing anything?
The worst offense, however, is that between Chapters 4 and 5, the game abandons all pretense of psychological horror and starts throwing non-stop jump scares at you.
It feels like the dev teams were clustered into factions competing against each other for what kind of game they wanted to make.
If you are unfamiliar with my work here is a very small portfolio. It's got some great stuff in it but my best work is my ages-in-the-making adventure game DDD: THE NATURAL PLAYBOYS, which I'm hoping I'll be able to finish once we are out of this mess. bachelorsoft.neocities.org/portfolio

Since WWE's trying to exploit PAC's death, it's time to talk about this: Remember how PAC suddenly had visa issues when AEW started? That's because, when the AEW trademarks were filed, WWE called USCIS to claim he walked out on his visa. After leaving him alone for a year and giving him his release.
i worry that men think being A Good Guy is dramatically and heroically intervening on behalf of an endangered woman and then being publicly rewarded on a grand scale when actually being A Good Guy is just usually saying, “hey man that’s not funny” or “wow that’s fucked up” and there is no reward
