This thread is ultimately about something else, but I have been deeply uncomfortable with the fatphobia that people display talking to/about animals (even their own adored pets). It’s hard to believe you don’t feel similarly about fat humans.

I wasn't going to discourse. I started to and then deleted but erg this is bothering me. I had roommates who used to make fun of my cat for being fat and disabled. I objected and they were like "what? She doesn't know. We're not calling YOU fat and disabled."

It really is at like bare minimum pointing to maybe they have some shit to work through here and I don’t necessarily want to be around while they are doing that work as a potential incidental Target

Ughhhh. I periodically see videos from people whose pets are in medical programs to lose weight and that can be very important, but it’s so rife with possibilities for harm.
