next up is qi ye! aka lord seventh 🖤 (art by mtkay13 who as far as im concerned is THEE artist for qy&tyk) this one was DENSE with court drama and politics and references to a lot of chinese literature that probably went over my head at least a little (the footnotes and hyperlinks helped tho)

but its also so CLEVER… i really think priest has some of the most fun ideas when it comes to court intrigue and mythology. her writing shines in QY even if its one of her oldest works. QY is written into a perfect ouroboros and it had me loving a character i disliked when i watched word of honor

i initially started QY because i missed the TYK characters but wasnt going to let myself read TYK without QY… and im Very glad i did because i love beiyuan and wuxi. you give me a scheming fan bitch and i will love him. you give him a crossbow???? im yours. AND THE FATED LOVE TRIANGLE???

doing these in order of completion… so honestly my next book is SVSSS! its so funny. back in 2020 it was the last thing i wouldve read (i was dumb) but my god. svsss really is so fucking good. it makes me want 38 more transmigration novels in my hands ASAP. it still lives in my head!!!!

shen yuan is such a fun protagonist. hes a hater. hes a forum board king. hes a rich young master living in beijing who spends his money hatereading a novel just because his absolute favorite character is in it. WE CAN ALL RELATE (Probably.) and then he dies and gets put into the novel.

the 10yr anniversary extras revealing that frankly. his soul and binghe’s are intertwined? that binghe (might be god?) fragmented himself to find someone who loved him unconditionally and that person is shen yuan? no matter what form he takes? soulmates that transcend… fourth wall?? CRAZY

it only makes sense that i start with MDZS. this will probably always be one of Those pieces of media that ill forever be attached to. it feels like coming home, probably bc it let me get close to a group of people who saved my life in late 2019. famously adapted into The Untamed (see below)

i love mdzs so much, i still need to actually like read the books but cql has saved me in ways i cannot explain, the story means so much to me it led me to amazing friend, it helped me in so many ways!! as u said, it feels like coming home and its like a warm hug that u dont know u needed

i started reading when it was a fan translation epub i had downloaded on my laptop in college and i didnt get that far because it was a tough time in my life, but CQL and the fandom at the time kept me going. ill forever love the nie brothers and fatal journey. jgy is my jester!!! jin ling is my son

so obviously my opinion is biased but.. guys idk. MDZS is just that bitch. between the theme of regrets and revenge, and how revenge is fruitless. it manages to not only set the stage in an engaging way by showing you wwx’s path to current day, but also set breadcrumbs for you to notice on a re-read

temporarily putting them here because i plan on making each novel its own post and “review” completed: - mo dao zu shi - scum villain’s self saving system - guardian - qi ye in progress: - tian ya ke - tian guan ci fu tbr: - thousand autumns - 2ha - yuwu - sha po lang - bing an ben

aaaaAAAAAA more dragon age to danmei people, perfect!! sha po lang is amazing (TO ME!!!) so I'm excited to see it on your tbr, but erha and qjj are some of my favorite books to exist.

hehe !! yeah ive been a reader of danmei for years but ive been outta the fandom spaces for them for a while. decided to just start posting about it here 🥸🫶 my tbr list is a little out of order. i just started reading yuwu last night and it’s SO GOOD. i didnt realize it was a prequel to erha
