The time has come, I have to shed lazy loading with Entity Framework. It's wasting more development time than it's saving.

It can be fine if you don't have to scale or project to fairly shallow DTOs. With a larger set of models and a lot of relationships, it just doesn't scale well. That being said, I maintain an old EF6/MVC5 project that's fairly massive and having to eager load is a huge pain.
