I think I would prefer the government not to have the ability to strong arm individual oligarchs this way and would prefer instead that we just not have oligarchs as a class and focus on wealth taxes etc. there are national security levers to remove musk from decision making short of nationalizing.

Yeah the problem is that once you start metaphorically pushing people out of windows you end up with a Putin-like situation in the White House that is hard to escape from.
