I'm not at all denying that Musk has a fragile ego and tried to kill the documentary. I'm also not going to pretend to be surprised that a movie with the pitch "spend four hours watching that guy you hate who you already have a hard time avoiding hearing about" was a tough sell.

Especially in theatre at the same time as maybe the greatest documentary ever made.

You Can See Everything is maybe the greatest documentary ever made and has made about $45 million domestically. Street Fighter has made about $46 million coming out the same weekend, and is a much worse movie. Documentaries don't make big money.

That said, our indie theatre does have it listed as coming soon and I do still hope to go. In part because I know if I don't go to the theatre for it I will never set aside four hours to watch it at home.
