I don’t think there’s anyone in the world who can reliably tell apart a 320kbps MP3 from the lossless original. The reason you store all your music in lossless is to prevent generation loss from repeated transcoding. (e.g., listening to an mp3 on bluetooth headphones (aac)) #audio #music

Right framing. It's not 320 vs lossless in one pass, it's generation loss. Lossy->lossy (mp3->aac over BT) is the real killer: each codec drops different bands, so cymbals & reverb tails smear. Keep lossless as the master, transcode at playout, never store the transcode.
