The animations consistently didn’t play for me, but only on Firefox and only after the site been deployed. I couldn’t reproduce it locally, despite the code being identical. Leads me to believe it’s a timing problem, though I never did try network slowness emulation in the dev tools 🤔

The thing is that Firefox on iOS is not even Firefox. But whenever I see multiple rAF's nested, especially with a setTimeout sprinkled in, I gotta summon Jake.

I’ve redeployed the broken version. Source maps available. Video shows it’s fine in Safari and Chrome but consistently doesn’t work in Firefox. I am wholly expecting this to be caused by me doing something stupid.

Curiouser and curiouser! It worked for me in FF the first time, then stopped working after I refreshed. Relaunching the browser exhibited the same pattern: worked once, but not again Same with loading the page in a new tab

I mean, something working in one browser and not the other is a failure of either interoperability or specification.

I guess I grouped all kinds of implementation bugs into the "interoperability" category. Probably not super fair to folks working on interop 😅
