If you like an author's work, the best thing you can do is buy it. The second best thing you can do is ask your local library to buy it. Or, do both!

I’m hanging with Muslim YA authors st NCTE and the ALAN conferences (high/middle school teachers encouraging YA reading) and the author conversations here are intense. Chatting with Seema Yasmin and Zainab Jabek about the numbers and promotion structure is wild.

I suggest the 3rd best thing you can do is tell everyone you know, including on social media, YouTube comments etc, how good it is. Word of mouth a teal thing. I evangelize for works I really enjoyed.

We've been trying to get back into buying books instead of just buying everything on kindle.Recently bought Starter Villian. But man is it hard for me to reorient reading a physical book. For co text I am dyslexic and reading off a device is easier for me. We'll see if we can keep it up.

I am poor and often can’t afford books, but I am a devoted library user. Why are many of your audiobooks not available at the library (Los Angeles Public Library)?

Just figured out that everything after The Last Colony is an Audible Exclusive, which gives more money to the author, but legally prevents any other platform, including libraries, from offering it for sale or rental at any price. This is not cool.

Also, if a book or audiobook comes up in your Libby app that the LAPL does not me, click the little “notify me” bell. Then Libby will let you know if LAPL gets the book AND LAPL is notified that you want the book. It’s very cool.

I put all of my research and work out for free while offering physical platform only for archival purposes. Have not received a single denomination of any currency for any of it and would prefer it that way. The proliferation of information is worth more to me than even food or housing.

Getting a library card was the best thing I did for myself this year. I'm actually reading more because I know I have a time limit! It might sound silly but just that little change has brought back the joy of books for me.
