My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

I have read dozens of outraged posts because the US special envoy Witkoff called Putin a "humanist." But no one is writing about the fact that the American negotiators are simply not doing their job. Let me explain.

Elon didn't run from California's restrictive regulatory environment, he ran towards the ability to buy people like Ken Paxton wholesale

Breaking News! Code UFB!!! For the first time in recorded history, the Niño 3.4 sea-surface temperature (SST) is above 30.0°C, reaching a preliminary SST of 30.06°C on October 5th. The Niño 3.4 SST anomaly is now 3.41°C above the 1991-2020 baseline. Everything is not fine.

Donald Trump’s remarks were dangerous — if not treasonous — putting a target on two of our biggest cities and one of America’s largest naval hubs.

Temperatures in the Central Pacific El Niño region are the hottest ever measured (top panel), and far above any other El Niño at this time of year. But, if you adjust for the warming of the global ocean, the current trajectory is not so different from other very strong events.

NOAA reconnaissance data coming out of Hurricane Polo are nothing short of spectacular and indicative of a very intense, compact, and tall hurricane.

The lawyer for the Venezuelan man shot by ICE yesterday says he was discharged from the hospital and transferred to ICE detention while the bullet was still inside of him, and that in Pearsall he's not received any pain meds and was forced to sleep on the floor.

‼️ Dust Bowl, left in the Dust! Climate contrarians love to cherry pick summer of 1936 in the US. But zoom out… Summer 1936 was about 1.36°C or 2.45°F cooler 🥶 globally, than 2026. 1/

Electric trucks were ~45% of heavy truck sales in China during June 2026. That compares to ~25% for all of 2025. China will put on the road ~430,000 EV heavy trucks from June 2026 to May 2027, if the June 45% share is maintained for 12 months! Incredible! www.msn.com/en-us/autos/... #energysky

History says the 9/11 attacks began at 8:46 a.m.—but that's not how most, from NYC officeworkers to the President, experienced it. Instead, the "attack" begins at 9:03, when we saw the second plane strike. I wrote abt the fascinating 17 minutes in between: www.nationalgeographic.com/history/grap...

nationalgeographic.comThe 17 Minutes That Changed AmericaThe earliest moments of the September 11 attacks did not unfold the way we often remember. Here’s how those surreal 17 minutes changed America forever.

This is pretty fucking wild. I had assumed in a worst case scenario he would target blue zip codes and toss ballots based on technicalities but this is even worse than I imagined.

It’s not “an oil deal with Venezuela.” It’s Trump kidnapping an autocrat, refusing to hold elections, then leaving the remainder of the regime in place but only if they allow him to pillage their natural resources, which they are doing to remain in power oppressing the people.

You can’t talk about debt without talking about how we got into a bad predicament, and there’s only one correct answer: tax cuts enacted this century

You may have seen I broadcast a message to planet Earth from the edge of space. I thought it was equally important to speak to deep space about you and your lovely little planet. But I thought humans might like to see it too, so here it is. #Clacton #VoteBinface

I realize very few actual humans follow me, but this guy is bloody brilliant. Worth following for his insights into the market.

I point out negative news about the economy, because it's true. Remember, though, that the market doesn't care about the economy. It measures wealth. Future earnings expectations for '26 and '27 have soared this year. This simply doesn't happen often, as most years see things trending lower.
