I'd love to see more folks fill out the interest form for testing monetization features on Leaflet! I'm particularly excited to hear what y'all think about this part — ideas for going *beyond* the typical paid subs model

Everything I post is free, but I started using buymeacoffee.com if someone really likes a certain thing I wrote or wants to throw some dollars my way to help cover data/software subscriptions I utilize. So if Leaflet had that built in I would offer it as an option.

but also, I'd be much more interested in a vig than a monthly fee - if someone is launching a new thing and doesn't know if people will pay, somewhere like Kit that lets you monetize for free with a share of income can be a better deal than a monthly fee

Not exactly what you’re looking for but we’re a decentralized patronage platform that lets you subscribe once and dynamically allocate your support month by month. Still allows people to dynamically gauge interest and keeps things affordable. We’re brand new but growing fast. Easy to add anywhere!

Nice, yeah I like that a lot, the "unlocking the commons" model kinda like NPR funding drive (on large or small scale) where you keep content free but get some just-for-fun extra incentives for supporting

As a forms nerd, forms amplify power imbalances and most people don't wanna. DM some Substack writers who have publicly stated they're not totally comfortable with the compromise. Take their info on cuneiform if necessary, forms be damned.

Thanks yeah makes sense, that's the next step, this was mainly to hear from a handful of early adopters & after some alpha testing gonna get into more proactive outreach!
