Since I've been here for a while… here are some useful features on Bluesky that you might not have discovered yet! 🧵

1. Find your friends! I've found most of mine with: - Starter packs blueskydirectory.com/starter-pack... - the Chrome extension 'Sky Follower Bridge' www.sky-follower-bridge.dev - @theo.io's Follow Finder, which lists people who are followed by lots of people you follow bsky-follow-finder.theo.io

2. Feeds! You can subscribe to different algorithms for your feed, and feeds of specific groups of people. My favourite one is 'Quiet posters', which shows you posts by people you follow who don't post very often.

3. If you subscribe to a lot of feeds and want to occasionally see some of their content on your main feed, just go to: Settings > Content > Following feed > Show samples of your feeds in your following feed.

4. Custom domains My handle here is my blog's URL, which I think is pretty cool. You can use your own domain for your handle too, with the instructions on this page. Even if your domain is shared with others, you could still have a handle like yourname.domain

5. Labelers Bluesky lets people set up custom labels on posts, which are sometimes used for moderation, categorization, and even games. You can find and subscribe to some here. I subscribe to one called 'Art Theft Labeler', which labels posts containing stolen art.

6. Random features you didn't know about. If your post includes a link, you can wait for the preview to show up, and remove the url, and the link stays there! This also saves characters from the character limit.

7. Search There are some good advanced search options on Bluesky! You can filter searches with who it's from, to, who it mentions, which language is used, and dates.

9. Bookmarks Sadly, there isn't a bookmark button (yet?) But you can still bookmark posts, by replying to them with 📌 Then they'll all show up in this feed:

This is the worst thing ever invented by a social medium (barring whatever has been happening at X) and people should never tell people about it. Just tell them that all of the pins in a thread are there because of a bug, or something
