I left twitter because Elon sucks and it’s toxic. I will return when he’s not there and it sucks less.

Ha, Scott Hanselman, a man that completely disappeared from my Twitter feed. Did you stop posting there or is the algorithm really that strict I have to interact with each of your posts to keep you in my feed?

These good people wouldn't even consider attending a conference/event/restaurant where open racism, misogyny and abuse was tolerated. I'm at a loss as to why they make an exception for social media.

A way to deprive X from ad revenue is to put anyone you still want to read content from in a list. Lists don’t seem have ads. I did this with a last few people/orgs that haven’t yet moved somewhere else. Now I read their content from the list only.

I deleted the Twitter app a few years ago. I kind of don't trust it being on my phone. Recently I deleted all my tweets and have a banner and pinned tweet to say I moved to Blue Sky. I have so far kept my Twitter account active so no one can take the handle and to check DMs every once in a while.

Well. I'm posting on a network where the protocol give me a "credible exit". I can leave the person who sucks and take my data with me. I think we'll see other big providers popping up. Giving us the choice of moving around. While not strictly decentralised, it gives me some of the same benefits.

Why return? They'll always be a for-profit company that tries to juice their engagement numbers, so I'm not sure if they'll ever not suck.
