Google thinks the web is like Android software where they can declare end-of-life because everyone who ever made Android software knew in advance that Google owned it, and this is what big tech companies do to their developers. You may not like it, but you have no cause to complain.

The web is different. Google didn't create it. It existed before Google by quite a few years. Google formed out of the early web, there would be no such thing as Google without the early web. They are guests on the web as we all are. And guests don't make the rules.

And the really shitty part of it is the EFF, which is supposed protect the web from exactly this kind of predation, is helping Google tear down the early web. Can't get any response from either Google or the EFF to this simple request for comment. this.how/googleAndHttp/

If you think tech companies are looking out for you, and when they say a site is not secure they're telling the truth, think again. They're all in bed with the current US government. Google too. Google CEO Sundar Pichai with US President Donald Trump, in September.

The EFF has five board members, people I know from the early web. The all probably think of themselves as advocates for free speech and for the people using the web, not just big corps. If you asked if Google owns the web, they would probably be horrified.
