I wonder how much of this stuff Safari will end up having. I wouldn't be surprised if it just ends up being the same as iPads 'desktop class' browsing.

taking inspiration from your articles on the code to use … I've been working on a little 'test page' earlier this morning. This is Safari (desktop) 26.6 so perhaps 27 has some more details. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I just checked caniuse and Safari doesn't support viewport segments 🤨 They support the Visual Viewport API but not the media queries.

Nor does Safari support the Device Posture API.

Apple usually holds back on unveiling API:s for unannounced devices until after announcement, and iPhone Duo will ship with iOS 27.1, so there is still hope even though the collaboration with the wider community will be lacking. They did eg. ship WebXR in the Vision OS I believe.
