My biggest pet peeve is that there's a ton of scam websites that are "Free QR Code Generator"s then the QR code stops working after a few days and then redirects you to ask you to PAY to re-activate it. QR codes can't "expire". But if the code is the url for a shady redirect site instead of the site you wrote, that's your fault for not checking what the generator actually put in there. There is usually absolutely no need for a redirect.

How do you expect a layperson to verify a generated QR code? What should they do that isn’t ”scan the code and see where it takes you”?
