🧵The "brighter future" with the Student movement in Serbia is the same as the "brighter future" with Vučić's party - Student Ticket responded to Vučić: We will not impose sanctions on Russia. And here's another thread on why it doesn't matter. ⬇️

Ever since the protests started, the Serbian people have known full well that the Students (most of them gray-haired) are just another right-wing movement. We had PLENTY of those over these four decades. Serbian revanchism focusing on Kosovo tends to be their main pain point. ⬇️

vreme.comStudents published Memorandum: Without Kosovo and Metohija, our code loses its meaning - TimeKosovo and Metohija are not just a place, they are a component of the Serbian national identity. The issue of Kosovo and Metohija concerns every citizen of this country.

And the results of not giving up on our Sacred Ancestral Lands of the Serbian World? A failed state through and through. The most vocal part of the Serbian public and the foreign media tend to focus on sexy issues like corruption and crime. It's much worse than that. ⬇️

🧵 People of Serbia fight against the dictatorship and occupation, and Albanian traitors who sold off their children's future and our sacred land of Kosovo to corrupt EU and Rio Tinto. But you should definitely visit Serbia and enjoy the tourism, great food, and music. Great Serbian food be like ⬇️

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Serbs making Serbia unlivable by pursuing destructive politics resulted in Serbia losing any potential for either progress or further destruction. See, the fear emanating from the doomist commentariat maintains that Serbian nationalists might wage...⬇️

So the only people we can abuse now are our Beautiful & Wise selves. That's why the next generation of the Serbian right-wing doesn't target Vučić's ideology or even his political organization - the Students spew hatred against the EU as a symbol of the "decadent, imperialist West" and against...⬇️

..." traitors of Serbdom", the non-nationalists (or at least, not nationalist enough), and everyone that isn't emanating enough anti-modernity. For example, Hijab-clad and bearded Sandžak Muslims are a-okay in the Students' minds, because they are also conservative and reactionary. ⬇️

On the other hand, a secular, atheist Serb person is an "auto-chauvinist, a traitor to the national cause". "Vučić sold out Serbian interests to the EU!" the Students and their confederates cry. "The EU keeps him in power", they lie. "We love Russia even more - principledly!" Whose principles...⬇️

...are the Students espousing? Vučić's? Great job right there. Up to the eyeballs in identitarian competition - if the patriarch is praising the Serbian government, the Students find bishops to support them. When Dodik professes his alliance with the ruling Progressives, the Students go on a...⬇️

...failed expedition to garner votes in Republika Srpska, which ended with the tribalist rage of the Student crowd denouncing the Bosnian Serbs from across the Drina as, well, "bad Serbs". The silliness of the Serbian proto-fascism is that it is incapable of moving into a full fascist mode...⬇️

...because of its fluidity - the "body of Serbdom" tends to rip itself apart and then reattach itself fueled by a myriad of issues and characteristics. Nativism and tribalism are among those - birthplace of a particular Serb, is he/she from Kosovo, Montenegro, Bosnia, Vojvodina, Belgrade, etc...⬇️
