Russian aggression against Ukraine actually emboldened the pro-Russians in Serbia. They are convinced that Russia will be on the Danube any day now and that we will join forces to reclaim what is called a Greater Serbia. Wanna support democracy in Serbia? Arm Ukraine.

Who is Akram Selo, and why does Gen Z regelt, a group calling on young people to emulate the French student protests on 31 October 2026 in Germany and elsewhere, use the same colour scheme as the St. George's ribbon logo of russian supremacism?

I would temper my expectations about a new era coming to Serbia. The election winners have virtually the same geopolitical positions as Vucic; most previous election winners (Vucic included!) ran on anticorruption; the student movement is above all populist. Good luck to them but let’s be realistic.

...the icky culture that created those problems in the first place. Which part of this does not compute? At least try not to repeat our mistakes, and get bogged down in stupid identitarianism and imaginary grievances while the air quality is so bad you can taste it.

"...they fight corruption." Yup, anti-corruption demagogy, revanchism over Kosovo, grievances over "historical injustices", complaints that Serbia got too Westernized, that it is exploited by foreign interests, that it lost its Holy Fantastic Identity - the exact same BS we got in 2012. ⬇️

*Sound on* The liberators even have the same music taste as the oppressors - the ghastly Serbian/Balkan turbo-folk music that is nothing but an unspeakable crime against the senses. "But it's our culture, we must preserve it, it's under attack by evil modernity!" ⬇️

Ya know, when Trumpster deservedly gets blasted over the "Putin the humanitarian" BS, why isn't the same dire ire aimed at the Student Ticket in Serbia, who are grateful to Russia over their dealings with - get this - the government they just deposed. What are they "grateful" for? ⬇️

Serbia snap parliamentary elections: Vučić just conceded defeat on a TV broadcast. In his words, only the Student Ticket and his list will enter the new parliament, aside from minority parties.

Ever since the protests started, the Serbian people have known full well that the Students (most of them gray-haired) are just another right-wing movement. We had PLENTY of those over these four decades. Serbian revanchism focusing on Kosovo tends to be their main pain point. ⬇️

This is what social media is - sloganism. Four posts about the same thing, made not to inform, but to get engagement by reaffirming the audience's beliefs and values.
