A tiny dog missing since the Fourth of July was rescued from San Francisco Bay on July 16 after she was found swimming about half a mile from shore as seagulls circled and swooped at her from above. Menlo Park firefighters used binoculars and a drone to locate the dog before reaching her by boat.

Born & raised in the East Bay the rescue was both brilliant & not surpising. The majority of those of from the San Fransico Area are a solid & decent lot of folks who would go outta their way to save a human or an animal. The Firefighters are simply great guys & gals who always deserve THANK YOU !

Rescuers pulled the shivering pup from the water, wrapped her in a firefighter’s jacket and turned her over to the SPCA. The dog, named Prieta, was later reunited with her family, who had spent nearly two weeks searching for her.

I am very aware of that. I network for shelter dogs daily. Every year we repeat ourselves over and over about fireworks. Owners should be held responsible for their dogs safety ! We're sick of telling people the same thing over and over!

Except some idiot just set off a bomb of a firework a while ago, a random Thursday evening. Neither my poor dog nor I was prepared for it. Luckily she was just on the back porch.

I don’t submit to constant aerial surveillance to locate missing pets, this is the beginnings of severe rights violations under the guise of personal comfort… do not be deceived, they are not concerned about finding our lost pets. They want to be allowed to track our every movement, to control us..

This is the happiest news all day. This is the greatest thing ever !! I can’t imagine the poor owner of that tiny little dog must’ve been insane without it. a lucky little dog. What a good swimmer. I can’t imagine if I lost a dog that way.
