Raiders of the Lost Ark came out in 1981, but was set in 1936 - a difference of 45 years. If they made the film today, the same time difference would mean it would be set in 1981.

The stage musical of Grease came out in 1971. It’s set in 1958. If a similar period piece were made today it would be set in 2013.
