Please no app :/ Everything you do is possible on the Web. Don't go Apple's and Google's way out of our incredible universal Web platform.

Oh I'm with you that the web is the heart of it, that is also why I started there. The app is an extra option for people who want a native install and app-store discovery (and we got a lot of requests for this).

I see these just as distribution channels for the people who want it, not as the business model. Those who don't can still choice the F-droid, PWA or web version. Open web and open source is the plan.

Not saying it's your fault or your duty to fix this, it's a large problem of distance to tech and Big Tech playing this agenda.

The problem is that PWA are way hampered by Google (and likely Apple though I cannot argue that since I seldom know their platform). Android reduces them to shortcuts when used in browsers other than Chrome and also blocks them from generating WebAPKs, which means

> ususally on the long-term, all new users come from "the app" But that seems to imply that most users want to use it that way. Why block them from doing this? Blocking a big part of the users on principle is not going to grow the open social web imho.

Doesn't mean letting go of ALL principles, but imho also doesn't mean forcing your principles on others. I build by avoiding BigTech (or non EU in general), almost exclusively use open source and publish most as MIT For some small group this might be a reason/draw to use Sifa, but most won't care.
