Was playing one of the slots last night here in Reno (of course the Werewolf one), and having done the marketing session earlier in the day it got me thinking... Machines like this exist to take your money in exchange for an enjoyable experience. That's what creators do too.

Oh come on! How do you expect me to resist playing this at least once… The pant and the wink…

Obviously the deck is stacked against you, but a lot of the same things apply to creator business, particularly around retention. - Reward early and often with small things - The longer they stay, give them chances at bigger ones - The more friends they bring, the faster they reach higher levels

This sort of thing is at play a lot in affiliate marketing programs with software companies, so it is not a new idea by any means. But think of ways that you could track and reward the behavior of people who are your best customers. We're definitely going to add this to our own to-do pile.

Is good thinking, but I'm not sure I can write along those lines. I do appreciate in the editing process when my editor says it's been too long since something good happened, but perhaps we need to shift how we think when we write too! Not sure.

Ah well, this is more about marketing your writing anyway. Something like maybe working a character into a future short story for people who are regular buyers perhaps?
