i need to go to hatteras island, which is currently restricted to emergency workers, residents, non-resident property owners, and people who work there. no visitors.

storm overwash took out the only road, and there's been a lot of flooding. king tides and high winds have made repairs impossible, i think they just started today

they said there's 1100 feet of highway 12 out between the basnight bridge and rodanthe. we're not sure if "scheduled memorial service" counts toward getting special approval or whatever. but things could also change by the time i'm supposed to leave! idk!
