Check out the QTs – just falling over themselves to applaud him for this idiocy (which isn’t his administration’s initiative or even the city’s, it’s some ineffective altruism nonprofit’s). He’s got a mandate to do whatever he wants. So what does he want to do?

Could new bus shelter roofs help New Yorkers stay cool in extreme heat? We're testing a few in Brownsville to find out: a green roof covered with native plants, and reflective roofs covered with low-cost, heat-resilient film.

On the topic of ineffective altruism, it's easy to make fun of EA, but *this* is the current state of the art in philanthropy. "Resilient Cities Catalyst" is a Rockefeller Foundation production and lists a bunch of huge corporations and foundations as "partners" (donors?) www.rcc.city/our-partners

Rockefeller and Ford are some of the worst scam kind of foundations out there: lots of men and women in wool suits attending galas and talking of the future, but then funding abysmally silly things (I'm not really against putting planters around the city, but it probably was a seven figure grant)
