The DSi is impressively sensitive to input. The only way that could be possible is if you have a thick screen protector. However, I do see that the first thing the frog does is touch the edit button. From that moment he likely had uninterrupted contact with the touch screen.

You can slide your finger off any button except the back button and any playing flipnote will keep going. Had the frog walked onto the screen with their left leg, this would have been ruined lol. Also tapping the empty space between buttons instantly stops any media.
