Every night we read our daughter 3 books.(short ones, she's not quite 3yo) Some nights I'm way too tired for it but we do it anyways. Spending time with your children is not a problem to be solved. That time spent is a gift both ways, breaks my heart hearing about AI idiots wasting it away.

It's telling that men would rather try to invent tech to replace humans' role in caregiving than step up as equal partners in parenting. Telling, that is, in that it shows how financial capitalism and patriarchy work together to dissuade men from doing "unprofitable" labor, like the work of care.

Ugh. They just don’t understand. 😩 It’s not just about hearing the words. It’s about the closeness between the child & reader, the conversations about a book, the connection between the words & the illustrations, the tactile sensations of turning pages… why would someone want to give that to tech??

100% and its also a great language development tool and bonding moment with your children. Our kid gets so excited to go on our big bed for story time at night, the thought of her lying in bed alone listening to a robotic emotionless version of our voice read a book makes me sad.

Absolutely! My kiddos are teenagers now, so cuddling with a book rarely happens anymore. But I loved those moments so much. 💕
