Got reached out and I'm going to cry. You have no idea how much this means to hear. Him and Jim Davis are the reasons why I'm a cartoonist today. My heart is so full.

I talk all the time about how Jim Davis and Dav Pilkey were THE artists to show me that I could be an artist as a kid. I spent YEARS reading Captain Underpants and Dogman. I read my "Extra Crunchy Book O' Fun 2" book to exhaustion. My second grade book report was on Attack of the Talking Toilets.

I grew up with ADHD and other learning disabilities, and his books were the first to ever tell me, "You are not the problem." Dav is someone I never ever thought I would have the opportunity to tell him how important he and his work have been to me and what it has done to my future.

I look at this and I think about how happy child me would be that we've actually got to show our idols what we've become and that they're actually proud.

Oh my gosh, that's so incredible, congrats! ❤️ I worked at a public library for seven years and it's so heartwarming seeing children still to this day read Pilkey ❤️
