I liked the badly photographed menus in Chinese restaurants growing up. They wouldn’t win photo prizes, but I could tell what the dish was, even if I couldn’t read the menu. A ‘pretty’ AI photo doesn’t show what the food actually is, why would I want to buy it (also it sometimes looks like worms).

WHY are you, a restaurant, using AI for your posters????? that's literally not what your food looks like????? just use a picture of your damn food??????

I like badly photographed anything if it’s just for social sakes or local shops. Like we didn’t care what our throw away camera pics looked like we just wanted to preserve the moment. I agree, Social media has taken us way too far away from the plot. If you can’t hire a pro or be a pro - it’s okay!!

I feel like restaurants all have been coerced into making ‘pretty’ pictures for Instagram, hence the slop pics. But unless it’s an occasion, usually I’m more like ‘I wanna eat the food’ and ergo, I want to see what the actual food is, it doesn’t have to look like someone styled it to death.

Not just worms, some are true trypophobia nightmares (I'm not trypophobic, it just kinda came up a lot recently online). I sure hope this is a trend that will subside again soon, it's intensely irritating. Also basic plating isn't THAT hard, it doesn't have to be a piece for the Louvre.

I think to anything. I am genuinely loving these old looking grainy photos my kids are getting from an old digital zoom point and shoot camera he bought with Christmas money and the vintage Polaroid he got the year before with bday money. Not loving Polaroid film costs though.
