I want to weigh in on this, as someone who makes streamer software for VRChat. This is gonna be a bit of a thread.

In general, the biggest problem I have with this isn't the claims of AI code, or the idea of funny backdoor shit. My issue is that doing it this way violates trust and consent, and makes it harder to make fun tools in future.

When developing tools with funny toys like this, the way you are meant to go about it is the same way you handle BDSM. You get consent, you discuss boundaries, and any shenanigans are left as details only, and always bounded within what was consented to.

What screminpal has done is they've pulled a "prank" that violates the expectations of what the tool does, something which should be treated with care. There's cases where stuff like this can be fun - see the clustertruck "dev takeover" streams - but they're screwing with core functionality.

The fact that they buried consent in a large readme, and have points in the readme that hint at the idea that this CANNOT happen, is super misleading. There is no opt-in, nor any process that implies that shenanigans ever could happen.

You're violating trust, and you're potentially fucking with peoples livelihoods. You don't fucking do that. There's ways to pull "jokes" like this properly, this sure as hell ain't it. It's unethical and you're fucking it up for the rest of us who actually understand consent for these things.

Also worth quickly adding: You don't do this to randoms, either! You do this with friends who know you. Agreeing to a ToS is not valid consent. You should never hide capabilities, and you need to read the room even with friends before ever pulling shit. Respect your users.
