If it's a high-speed connection covering 300 km, it's not regional rail; it's inter-city rail. (Words matter.)

To be fair, Australia also uses the term regional rail for those distances not intercity rail. The Xplorer from Sydney to Canberra is called a regional train, the much shorter trip from Sydney to Newcastle is called an Intercity train. So Alberta is just being Australian.
