A Florida man was found dead in his home during a welfare check in July 2022. Weeks later, one of the officers who discovered his body moved into the home and spent years impersonating him, according to investigators.

The conservative project, fundamentally, believes that the federal government should not exist unless it's for ethnic cleansing or robbing you blind. Anything else should be cut and 'left to the states' (to let them do their own version of racism/robbery).

I really want people to understand that if you are sincerely committed to even the most milquetoast liberal beliefs, virtually everybody in a position of authority or influence in the American media and intelligentsia hates you and wants you to die.

In 1993, Trump signed a mortgage for a Florida home, pledging it would be his principal residence. Seven weeks later, he attested a neighboring property would also be his principal residence. In reality, he does not seem to have lived in either home. (Published Dec. 2025)

A good summation of David Brooks and "civility" politics generally: no one on the right-wing can ever be described honestly, while everyone who isn't on the right-wing is always portrayed as a radical breaking cherished norms.

"Jon Ossoff, my advice to him is, if you start calling your political opponents Nazis, maybe it's time to shut up. That's just not what we do here in this country." -- David Brooks, this evening. Remember, Brooks still gets very handsomely rewarded by the fossilized media for saying shit like this

in the 20th century we were involved in a lot of horrors, and the response to those horrors was to do things to make them more scarce. then everyone forgot what causes the horrors, and people were like maybe the horrors were good actually? and that's why measles and public executions are back.

I guess this is just sort of the logical endpoint of this administration’s commitment to fulfilling their supporters’s desire to vicariously consume violence done to other people.

This is why more women don't come forward, and why more rapists aren't jailed. Because mostly-male cops and prosecutors find it more believable that a 20-yr-old would want to have sex with a room full of fraternity brothers than accept she was raped. What ever happened to common fucking sense?
